Rahul Gandhi on Friday paid an unscheduled visit to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai where Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is undergoing treatment. Though he could not meet Jayalalithaa who was in an ICU, he described her condition as fine and that she "is recovering well."
"I wish her maximum energy so she’d be able to get well soon," said Mr Gandhi who has spent an hour in the hospital and saw her from outside the ward.
Currently, the 68-year-old Tamil Nadu CM is on ventilator for respiratory support and she requires two more weeks to return from the hospital, said the latest reports. Apart from a UK specialist for lung infestion, three doctors from AIIMS hospital in Delhi have been sent to Chennai doctors to oversee the treatment to Jayalalithaa.
Ms Jayalalithaa was admitted to Apollo Hospital on September 22 and the party has remained tight-lipped about her condition and rejected DMK chief’s demand for a photograph as a proof. It has also filed police cases against people who have spread rumours in Twitter or facebook over the health condition of Jayalalithaa.
