It’s Over: Maria Sharapova and Grigor Dimitrov Part Ways After Two Years

And again, another tennis relationship goes down the flames. This time it’s Maria Sharapova and Grigor Dimitrov who decided to end their romance after two years.

After going public with their too-hot-to-handle romance at the 2013 Mutua Madrid Open by kissing on the streets, Sharapova, 28 and Dimitrov, 24 has been a “hot and happening” thing to the world. Sure, their relationship garnered lots of attention initially due to the four-year age gap between them, but those soon became stale news.

But now, the Bulgarian star who is rightfully considered to be the rising star of the tennis world, confirmed to a Bulgarian media conference on Friday, July 24 that he and the Russian-leggy is no longer a thing, and we hope it’s for good because of course we don’t want them to lose focus from their games for this heartbreaking twist.

“Our paths split,” Dimitrov told the media, talking about the break-up as reported by Us Weekly. “We experienced wonderful moments together. I wish her much happiness and success in life and in tennis,” he added.

The 24-year old further emphasized that he is concentrating on tennis right now. “Now I’m concentrated entirely on the game and I’m sure the results will soon be seen,” he said, adding that this will be “the summer of the new beginning of me.”

Sharapova is yet to open her mouth on this, but the beauty seems to be enjoying her time as per twitter where she has been posting several pictures.

Sharapova has been a constant supporter of Dimitrov in his matches and even gushed about dating a fellow tennis player who understands her just this past May, in an interview with the Financial Times.

“It’s nice to have someone who really understands and respects [what I do] and who knows the drill,” she said, adding that it’s “not always easy to explain to the outside world” the several variants an athlete faces and it’s “nice that they are aware of it and know it.”

Sharapova and Dimitrov started dating, shortly after she and her long-time fiancé, Sasha Vujacic – a Slovenian basketball player, broke off their engagement in 2012. Vujacic was seen to attend “Masha’s” (as Sharapova is known to her fans) almost every match in every tournament.
