Forbes has announced its list of top 100 richest billionaires in India and half of the top eight are from the pharma sector which is surging ahead of other sectors by mere numbers that India has in its 100 Plus billion population.
Founder of Sun Pharmaceutical to Singh brothers of Ranbaxy that was sold to Japan’s Daiichi Sankyo for $4 billion to Pankaj Patel’s Cadila Healthcare to mention a few hog the limelight in the top 100 list.
While Mukesh Ambani of Reliance retains his No.1 position, he is followed by Dilip Shanghvi from the pharma sector. Otherwise, the IT sector shenanigams like NRN, Nilekani and Gopikrishnan, Azim Premji routinely figure in the list, steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal and others cannot ever miss from the list.
