India’s Mars Mission Mangalyaan Sends New Year 2016 Greetings, Disc Picture of Red Planet

India’s prestigious Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) Mangalyaan still circling the Red Planet has taken the occasion of New Year 2016 to send greetings to earthlings.

“Happy New Year. Dear earthlings! North Pole looks wicked cool here!” said Indian Space Research Organisation’s Mangalyaan from Mars Orbiter. It has also sent a stunning picture of the full disc of Mars that was taken from 55,000-km distance showing the North pole which is full of frost.

The New Year greeting from MoM soom went viral on Twitter with 2,000 re-tweets and getting 1500 likes on Facebook. The last time Mars Orbiter Mission had sent a tweet was in July after it came out of the blackout on Mars.
