Indian Super League 2014: Eight Teams Vie for First Indian Football Extravaganza

Indian_Super_LeagueSunday, October 12, 2014 will kick start India’s tryst with football as the Indian Super League promoted by Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Saurav Ganduly, Ranbir Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan and John Abraham will usher in new evenings for the Indian youth who are increasingly turning to football from cricket.

All the 8 teams — Atletico de Kolkata, Mumbai City FC, Delhi Dynamos FC, FC Pune City, NorthEast United FC, Kerala Blasters FC, FC Goa and Chennaiyin FC – will clash for the ISL 2014 trophy in a span of 84 days until December 20, playing 61 matches.

In all, a total of 56 fixtures will be played in the league stages on home front and outside basis, before the top four teams face each other in a two-legged semifinal. The final will be held on 20 December, 2014.

Here are the 8 teams vying for the honour to be India’s first ISL winner.
