India will look to grab a win against Bangladesh in the only test of their tour to the country when they take on them today for a five-day showdown.
Bangladesh who has been living all these years with the “underdog” status will look to use their new improved game to clinch a win against India in this one Test and four ODI-series tour.
After their recent mauling of Pakistan at home in test only, that is truly a remarkable feat, Bangladesh sure promises to offer a mighty challenge to India.
Venue: Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Bangladesh.
When: 10-14 June, 2015.
Timing: 9.30 am IST, 5 am BST.
Live Streaming Information: Starsports 1 TV channel will broadcast it live while the www.starsports.com will streamline the play live on the web.
Under their permanent Test captain, the young and jubilant Virat Kohli, a few returning bowlers, and hungry batsmen who are eager to make their contribution, India looks to put a great show as well.
Virat Kohli who recently talked about focusing on the unity of the team will look to execute good batting skills himself. He was the only one with a terrific record of scoring 692 runs in four tests in the series against Australia that saw the Indian team with one of the worst performances in years.
The sub-continental conditions of Bangladesh will add up to the advantages of India with them playing most of their test matches overseas in the past couple of years.
Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, and Cheteshwar Pujara have the capability to produce good results in sub-continental conditions, and that will certainly be a big threat to Bangladesh.
Harbhajan Singh who used to be the show stopper of the Indian team five to six years before, also promises to steal the show with the off-spinner’s game suiting the sub-continental conditions as well.
Wriddhiman Saha who will commence the real test of his career by taking over the prolific MS Dhoni as the wicket keeper/batsman of the Indian team, looks keen to step up to the play.
In a recent reports, he has told about closely following Mahi (as Dhoni is known to his fans), and even sought suggestions from the “Captain Cool.” If all goes well, and his enthusiasm strikes the right cord, Saha can easily carry the burden on his shoulders.
As per the Bangladesh team is concerned, with the presence of world-class talents like Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim, they can put up a formidable show. However, there is a chance of them having to make do without skipper Rahim who is struggling with a finger injury.
The one-off Test match will be a big challenge for Bangladesh who are eager to prove their worth, but they really don’t have anything to lose. However, if India loses they will drop down to 95 points in the ICC Test rankings while a draw will drop them down to 97 points, ahead of England and Pakistan though. A win will earn them a point, and Kohli’s squad can stay at number three in the rankings.
If the players keep up to the expectations, the new look of the Indian team can be a success and they can draw a win from Bangladesh.
