IFA 2014: Berlin Takes Centre Stage for Tech World This Week

The annual IFA 2014 is all set to open at Messe Berlin Convention Center on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds (Expo Center City) from 5 to 10 September 2014 with major tech giants unveiling their future gadgets and additions to their stock of software and OS systems.

The show is expecting lakhs of tech geeks from all over the world interested in mobile tech, and home appliances but most of the products will be suitable for European market giving a sneek preview into what future products would look like, especially in the smartphone, smartwatch and TV markets.

With Samsung’s “Unpacked” event on Wednesday, expectations are running high for a new phone in the Galaxy Note series, which is rumoured to be taking on a big-screen iPhone.

Already, Samsung, LG and Asus have begun to release teasers about their upcoming products in areas like smartwatches, with the Gear S, G Watch R and ZenWatch, respectively, while the new Motorola Moto 360 is another showcase this time with Sony planning to unveil its new SmartWatch. Above all, Apple’s iWatch will force them to launch whatever they have in their stable at IFA 2014 lest iWatch or iTime will hit the markets too soon.

The TV manufacturers Samsung and LG are also working on 4K OLED prototypes, which LG has already decided to release one for the market with its tech prowess. This time, ultra-high-definition TVs may hit the show in Berlin with features like new 4K content.

IFA 2014 may also see more announcements in joint ventures like Amazon and Samsung, smart home applicances with LG pitching in heavily and new Wif-fi refrigerators, washing machines, self-diagnosing dishwashers and smart home-security appliances.

Arçelik is a listed Turkish manufacturer of household appliances. With 14 production facilities in 5 countries (Turkey, Russia, Romania, China and South Africa) and sales organizations in 25 countries the company employs approximately 25,000 people. Among others the Company’s brands include Beko and Grundig. Levent Çakiroglu, President, Koç Holding Durable Goods CEO, Arçelik Group will provide insight strategies at the IFA International Keynote stage.

Friday, September 5, 5 pm

Intel designs and builds the essential technologies that serve as the foundation for the world’s computing devices. Kirk Skaugen, senior vice president and general manager of the Personal Computing Group for Intel Corporation, will reveal new products and Intel’s plans to usher in a new era of computing devices with its latest technology during his keynote address at the IFA 2014. Intel is a world leader in computing innovation.

In 2010, together with Matt Rogers, Fadell set up Nest Labs, which in January 2014 was sold to Google Inc. for $3.2 billion. In May 2014 Time magazine named Tony Fadell, CEO of Nest Labs, one of the world’s 100 most influential people. Tony had previously worked for Apple, where he was instrumental in developing the first generations of iPods as well as the iPhone. He holds more than 300 patents. A visionary – what he will develop next?

Saturday, Sept 6 , 2 pm

An insight into the history and future of this family-run company, which was established 70 years ago, is provided by Daniel and Andreas Sennheiser, CEOs of Sennheiser Electronic GmbH & Co KG.
