ICC World Cup 2015 Opening Ceremony: More than 1 billion watched live globally

The 2015 cricket World Cup opening ceremony was held on Thursday, February 12, in Melbourne and Christchurch in Australia and New Zealand with Indian team represented by M.S. Dhoni and Virat Kohli.

Besides players and fans, the ceremony was kicked off with performances by Jessica Hilda Mauboy, Tina Arena, Nathaniel and Daryl Braithwaite, while the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra showing the musical side.

In addition, all the teams of the 14 countries participated on to the stage with their own performances. More than 1,000 performers have taken part in the opening ceremony of the 2015 Cricket World Cup in Christchurch.

While Sol3 Mio and Shapeshifter are the highlights of the ceremony, it was broadcast all over the world and at least 1 billion viewers are expected to watch it today globally.

“It is a privilege to welcome the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 to Melbourne and Australia by performing at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl for the Opening Event in front of a number of teams, including Australia and England before their big opening match,” said Mauboy.
