The twitter account opened by Bangalore-based Mehdi Masroor Biswas as just one-year old but had more than 2 million visitors a month, mostly from foreign Arab countries and increased in its popularity among the young UK Muslims that prompted UK’s Channel 4 to sit tight and explore.
With no picture on his Twitter account, no address nor any identity, Channel 4 digged into his other accounts and traced his previous twitter handle @ElSaltador, where they found an email id email@example.com. Soon, they found he used the same name to create a Google Plus and a Facebook account too. In his Facebook page, his real identity, photos and location as Bangalore was revealed.
When they confronted him, he pleaded that his identity would endanger his life and Channel 4 obliged it but not the Indian media, which went open with all his details.
While Twitter account is shut down, his Facebook page is blank now.
