Home Minister presents Padma Vibhushan to veteran actor Dilip Kumar

Padma Vibhushan, the highest civilian award after Bharat Ratna, was presented to veteran actor Dileep Kumar (Mohammad Yusuf Khan) as was announced on the Republic Day of 2015 for his exceptional and distinguished service.

Dilip Kumar was to receive the Padma Vibhushan at a ceremonial function at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on April 8, 2015 in New Delhi, but he could not attend the ceremony due to his ill health.

The Union Minister, Mr. Rajnath Singh on Saturday delivered the Padma Vibhushan to Shri Dilip Kumar at his residence at Pali Hill in Mumbai. The Governor of Maharashtra, C Vidyasagar Rao and Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis were present. However, there is criticism that the award was too late for the legendaary actor who was honoured by Pakistan with its highest civilian honour Nishan-e-Imtiaz in 1997.
