‘Happy New Year’ to Run Housefull on Opening Week Riding High on Advance Booking

‘Happy New Year’ all set to be released in more than 4,000 screens today, Friday October 24 and the seat occupancy is assured at 100% on its opening day going by the huge rush to booking in advance in theatres and multiplexes, coinciding with the Balipadyami Holiday and the weekend rush.

Shah Rukh Khan’s HNY is likely to exceed last year’s “Chennai Express” bookings and even cross the record set by Aamir Khan’s “Dhoom 3” opening day rush. All metros including Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore have reported advance booking going on in full swing, hinting at a massive opening day box office collections due to the highest rate per ticket at around Rs.300 to Rs.1000.

The advance booking was opened in all the three maetros on Wednesday and multiplexes have already closed advance booking for the opening day while the weekend rush is equally high. In Pune, many multiplexes have put up Housefull boards for the first show on Friday, while Hyderabad, Jaipur and Kolkata showed similar rush for the movie.

Apart from Shahrukh Khan, “Happy New Year” cast includes Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood and Boman Irani. The film revolves around the story of five men and one woman who attempt to pull off the biggest ever diamond heist, disguised as dancers.

Here is the list of top 5 movies with their record opening day collections in 2014 and it remains to be seen whether “Happy New Year” would cross them all in box office collections.
