Pawan Kalyan, Venkatesh starrer “Gopala, Gopala” with a simple rural lifestyle as theme and replicating similar venture by Venkatesh with Mahesh Babu last year, has turned out to be relatively good at the box office with Rs.9.19 crore collected on its opening day.
Though less than Pawan Kalyan’s record Rs.10.75 crore collected on the first day of “Attarintiki Daredi” first day collections, the latest Pawan Kalyan film “Gopala,Gopala” with Venkatsh is doing well both in domestic and the US market, said sources.
With Shriya Saran, Mithun Chakraborty and Posani Krishna Murali in other supporting roles, the film is a remake of the 2012 Hindi film OMG – Oh My God!.
An atheist Gopala Rao who sues god after losing his shop in an earthquake and the consequences faced by him when religious organisations revolt against him. God Krishna visits him as a human to guide him.
Since the film lacked masala-based songs and eccentric scenes, its collections are still far below than any multi-starrer film of the stature, said industry sources.
However, being a family movie with good story, producers are hopeful that the film will repeat the gradual success of “Venkatesh-Mahesh Babu starrer SVSC (Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu).
