As the world remains in sort of shock over the news of sudden Google Glass demise, Google has confirmed it is actually working on an upgraded Google Glass 2 instead, keeping the program live for some more years.
While announcing the closure of its Google Glass Explorer programme and taking the original wearable device off sale Monday, the company in a Google+ post revealed that “you will start to see future versions of Glass when they are ready.”
“As we look to the road ahead, we realise that we’ve outgrown the lab and so we’re officially “graduating” from Google[x] to be our own team here at Google. We’re thrilled to be moving even more from concept to reality,” the post read.
“January 19 will be the last day to get the Glass Explorer Edition. In the meantime, we’re continuing to build for the future,” it further read.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the next generation of the wearable gadget will arrive in 2015.
“It is not clear what Intel chip Google will use in the new version of Glass, but there will be an emphasis on power conservation,” the report said.(IANS)
