‘Gauthamiputra Satakarni’ vs ‘Khaidi No.150’: Big Time Clash on Telugu Screens for Sankranti

With the comeback film of Chiranjeevi "Khaidi No 150" set for release tomorrow, Wednesday, the other megastar Nandamuri Balakrishna’s "Gauthamiputra Satakarni", which is reminiscent of old style kings and clans of Andhra history, will clash the very next day on Thursday, just few days ahead of the Sankranti weekend.

Another actor Venkatesh tweeted: "Two of the most awaited movies. Both amazing actors, and very close friends. One big festival weekend. This Sankranti, we all have reason to celebrate. Wishing both teams all the best… I cannot wait to watch Chiru and Balayya on screen again."

The success of both films is crucial for Telugu film industry as no such big budget films are on cards for now until the release of Bahubali 2 in May this year. The success of Khaidi No.150 will herald the family of Chiranjeevi which has been making numerous films of late with three heroes and two budding heroes in the family making it often at the box office.

For Balakrishna, the film will be crucial as this is his 100th film and it has ancient language and look to impress Telugu viewers after almost six years after "Magadheera" and one year after "Bahubali", making it either withstand or sweep the tempo among the film goers.

At a pre-release event, Chiranjeevi told the gathering and fans, “I am able to act in this movie only because of your support. The film is being released on January 11 and I convey my wishes to Nandamuri Balakrishna, whose movie Gautami Putra Satakarni is also being released during Sankranthi."

The movie has all the ingredients of a masala movie with comedy, action, romance and melodrama thrown in right dose, said the lead actor himself who is returning to telugu cinema after almost 10 years of gap.

Meanwhile, police have been on high alert as the fans of both heroes may hit roads and streets during the release of the movies with just one day gap. AP Director-General of Police N. Sambasiva Rao on Saturday reviewed strategy and instructed district heads not to entertain any unauthorised activities by the fans and also ensure that no untoward incident takes place.

He asked the officers to take stringent action against those making adverse comments on the actors and book them under cyber crime Act for promoting hate. Bike rallies and public meetings without permissions will not be allowed without prior permission during the period.
