American Floyd Mayweather has topped Forbes’ list of 100 highest-paid athletes’ with earnings of $300 million, while India’s cricket star captain M.S.Dhoni slipped to 23rd position from 22nd last year and he is tied with Barcelona star, 23-year-old Neymar with earnings of $31 million.
The undefeated boxer who won the mega fight against his Filipino rival, Manny Pacquiao is miles ahead of others in the 100-member club. According to Forbes, this is the third year running that Mayweather has held onto the top position.
Manny Pacquiao finished second with earnings of $160 million, a sum almost half of Mayweather’s.
Real Madrid superstar and Messi’s rival, Christiano Ronaoldo grabbed the third position after earning $79.6 million. Messi finished fourth with earnings of $73.8 million.
Tennis legend and 17-time major champion, Swiss Roger Federer won the fifth position with earnings of $67 million.
Golfer, Rory McIlroy is the highest-paid Brit at 12th spot with earnings of $48.3 million. The other two Brits are reigning Formula One World champion, Lewis Hamilton in 15th spot with earnings of $39 million, and Real Madrid winger, Gareth Bale who is at the 18th spot with $35 million. Bale is also the highest paid athlete aged 25 or under.

French Open runner-up, Serbian Novak Djokovic grabbed the 13th position with earnings of $48.2 million.
Former Barcelona player, Zlatan Ibrahimovic became 14th with earnings of $39.1 million.
German Sebastian Vettel is the second Formula One player after Hamilton in the list with earnings of $33 million. He finished just outside of Top 20, at 21st position.
“King of Clay” Rafael Nadal who has suffered a poor year so far finished 22nd with earnings $32.5 million.
Barcelona star, 23-year-old Neymar has grabbed the spot same as his age with earnings of $31 million. MS Dhoni, the only Indian in the list is tied with him.
Tennis superstar, Maria Sharapova is the highest paid female athlete in the list with earnings of $29.7 million in 26th position.
Golden Boot winner in last year’s FIFA World Cup, James Rodriguez who enjoyed a superb season in Real Madrid acquired the 27th position with $29 million.
Manchester United star, Wayne Rooney acquired the 34th position with $29.6 million.
French Open Champion, Serena Williams is the second female in the list at 47th spot with earnings $24.6 million.
The third male tennis player in the list is Brit, Andy Murray who acquired 64th spot with earnings of $22.3 million.
“Lightning Bolt” (as Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt is known to the world) came 73rd with earnings of $21 million.
One of the three superstars of Barcelona, Luis Suarez came 74th with earnings of $21 million.
Frank Lampard has acquired the 87th spot with earnings of $19.7 million.
Chelsea star, Belgium Eden Hazard has acquired the 90th spot with $19.6 million.
The next tennis star in the list at 92nd spot is Japan’s Kei Nishikori with earnings of $19.5 million.
Mesut Ozil comes after Nishikori with earnings of $19.3 million.
In a list dominated by basketball and baseball players, MS Dhoni is the only Indian athlete who has made it to the lists while Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams are the only females present.
