First Indian Actor Chosen for Game of Thrones
The TV saga "Game of Thrones" has selected its first Indian actor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, in the role of a sword-wielding royal.
The familiar actor was known for his stunts with the latest "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" action scenes, which have impressed stunt director Greg Powell, who is known for his work in the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise, ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ and ‘Fast and Furious 6’.
The 33-year-old actor said he will undergo special training for over a month to prepare for his stance in ‘Game of Thrones’. Powell had directed two scenes in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (PRDP) and was impressed with Mukesh’s sword swinging art, said local media.
Mukesh, himself a big fan of ‘Game of Thrones’, is willing to work for the TV series which return next spring.
Son of Bollywood playback singer Nitin Mukesh, he was named after American astronaut Neil Armstrong by family friend Lata Mangeshkar in 1982 when he was born. He acted as a child artist in Vijay (1988) and Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharnii (1989) as the younger roles of Rishi Kapoor and Govinda.
A commerce graduate, Neil acted in Tamil film Kaththi and he had reportedly learnt Tamil from scratch to do justice to the role. "Music is my hobby, but acting is my passion," he told TOI when asked whether his family of singers approve his acting ambitions.
