Kangana Ranaut, while expressing her feelings about how she felt when she first entered into film industry which was almost nine years ago, said frankly that she felt “trapped.”
After her recent releases Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns, the actress comes across as a confident and talented actor on screen, but seems to have felt ‘trapped’ when she steeped into the world of giltz and glam.
The actor, who made her Bollywood debut with ‘Gangster’ in 2006, told IANS: “When I came in this industry, I was trapped. I was dying in all my films. So, to come out of it was not easy for me.” Kangana was lauded for her performance in films like Gangster and Fashion but at the same time she also went onto star in box office duds like Rascals, No Problem and Game.
But this did not deter her from working hard and making a name for herself in Bollywood, without a godfather. “I think it was my destiny and I have worked really hard to make a mark in this industry,” she added.
The report also said Kangana is no longer scared of anything at this point of time in her career. “I think where I am right now, I am not scared of anything. I had nothing when I came in this industry and now I have immense confidence in myself. I am not answerable to anyone, and I live my life on my own terms,” she said.
The actress has won National award for her performance in ‘Queen’ and has also scored a hit with her dual avatar in Tanu Weds Manu Returns, which is almost set to cross Rs 150 crore mark in India. The movie was directed by Aanand Rai, and had Kangana in a double role and her performance not only wowed critics but also pulled the crowds to theatres.
Kangana’s upcoming movie is ‘Katti Batti’ which is directed by Nikhil Advani. She is paired opposite Imran Khan. The trailer of the film has already grabbed eyeballs as the actor was seen in a new avatar in the film but currently it has been banned due to a court battle on Youtube.
Katti Batti is a modern take on relationships and is set to hit the theatres on September 18.
