Hollywood action thriller ‘Fast and Furious 7’ released on Friday in India has created a record of Rs.12 crore box office collections, breaking the hiatus that hung on to the recent films in a row.
On its second day, the film grossed another Rs.11.75 crore, according to an estimate by the online website ‘KoiMoi’.
The movie, which has immense following in India with earlier series, was able to collect huge box office earnings on its opening day raising hopes of distributors to make big impact in the long weekend that followed the film’s release with no Hindi or regional film to compete with.
“Fast & Furious 7” release on its first day faced no competition bu on second day with the release of Dibakar Banerjee’s “Detective Byomkesh Bakshy”, it took a slight beating in theatres and multiplexes.
Otherwise, the film is likely to break the Hollywood record in India as it has been a massively followed by Paul Walker’s fans and being a tribute film to him, it has an added advantage to make an impact at the box office.
With estimates of crossing Rs.45 crore in the long weekend, the film is likely to cross Rs.75 crore in its first week, according to industry analysts.
