A failed candidate in Civil Services Prelims turned him mentally ill after results were declared in October and now he went berserk on the streets of karimnagar in Telangana before he was shot dead on the street by the police.
The tragic incident took place on Tuesday when 26-year-old Balvinder Singh, an employee of a Bangalore-based IT firm was under depression and brought home by his parents a month ago for treatment.
On Tuesday morning, the Sikh youth took out his sword and went on a rampage attacking 22 people on the street slitting their throats. Many more were injured, including his parents and two policemen, said the police.
Balvinder Singh alias Babloo, resident of Laxmi Nagar locality of Karimnagar town, faced psychological problems following his failure in the civil services examination, said Deputy Superintendent of Police, J Rama Rao.
An employee with a multinational IT firm in Bengaluru, Balvinder was staying with his parents for the past one month and undergoing treatment. “This morning, he attacked his parents with a sword. Thereafter, he came out on the street and started attacking people aimlessly. He also attacked two police constables. Sensing the danger, our police inspector (Vijay Sarathi) shot him,” Rama Rao said.
