Exactly two weeks after Pune witnessed series of blasts on a busy street forcing the country’s home minister to cancel his intended visit to the city, another minor explosion struck the city on Friday.
Currently, the city is witnessing an exodus of the Northeastern people owing to some threats from local people.
Early reports show that a five-year-old girl has been injured and that a bomb disposal squad has been rushed to the Laxmi Tara complex in Pimpri Chinchwad. The child was injured as she picked up a plastic bag containing chemicals.
Five explosions rocked Pune, the second-tier city of India, on August 1 and the sixth explosive was defused. The bombs were placed in garbage can and in a cycle carrier. The spots where the explosions took place at Bal Gandharv Theatre, Deccan Mall, Mc Donald’s, Khyber bar and Garware chowk.
Pune is fast emerging as the second tier city of BPOs and IT-centric multinational companies, next to Bangalore and Hyderabad.
