The 3-day 15th Sustainable Development Summit was held at the country level in New Delhi was held from February 5 to February 7, 2015, ahead of the September UN Summit at global.
The summit, organized by the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), is a platform for stakeholders to vent out their views and woes in view of an increasing pressure on meeting global targets for stemming the climate change.
The meeting has discussed the international development agenda ahead of the UN summit on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) to propose ideas to promote sustainable growth and prosperity globally.
The participants raised some pressing environmental issues like climate change, global warming, environmental pollution and find ways to prevent environmental degradation.
The main focus in Delhi summit was on issues such as the energy supply sector, financial avenues for green projects focusing on sustainable and holistic growth, training and education for the youth on sustainable development.
The summit theme was “Sustainable Development Goals and Dealing with Climate Change”.
The event also saw the Sustainable Development Leadership Award 2015 was presented to the Former President of European Commission & Former Prime Minister of Portugal Dr José Manuel Durão Barroso by Mr Suresh Prabhu, Minister for Railways, India and Dr R K Pachauri, Director-General, TERI & Chairman, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
