India’s Mumbai don and the most wanted criminal in Mumbai riots, Dawood Ibrahim is said to have been admitted in Aga Khan Hospital in Karachi after suffering a severe heart attack on Friday night and his condition is still unknown officially.
Unconfirmed reports said the don has died but the Mmabi police have refused to confirm the details and Pakistan has held that Dawood Ibrahim never stayed in its territory. He was last seen in Dubai when his daughter was married off to a Pakistani cricketer Miandad’s son Junaid in 2005.
Dawood Ibrahim’s former aide Chota Shakeel had downplayed the rumours when TOI sought his reaction. “Listening to my voice, do you think any such thing has happened? These are all rumours. Bhai is fit and fine.”
Dawood Ibrahim’s health was making rounds in newspapers for a long time and reports in the past suggested that he had a crippling gangrene in his legs and also suffered from a stroke.
He was last seen at former Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad’s party at on April 19 this year. Earlier, a media report from Dubai said about Rs 15,000 crore worth of property belonging to him was seized in the UAE on Indian government’s dossier.
Ibrahim was accused of plotting the 1993 Bombay serial blasts, in which 257 people were killed. He was declared most-wanted by the Interpol on request from the Indian government. Rumours about his intention to return were repeatedly denied by the government.
