In a typical relic from any Telugu film, former Congress MP and Warangal Congress leader Sircilla Rajaiah’s daughter-in-law and her three sons were burnt alive in an LPG gas leak and explosion in their bedroom early Wednesday morning, with suspicion falling on insiders’ handiwork, while the police were quick to book a case of suicide.
Sarika, wife of the MP’s son was in news recently for protesting against her in-laws. She had also filed harassment cases against her husband Anil and Rajaiah, said her sister Archana. “My sister is not the kind to commit suicide. We suspect that she has been killed by Rajaiah’s family,” Archana told Indian Express.
"Rajaiah and his wife and her husband Anil were always harassing her. Last year she had come home and confessed that it was becoming difficult to live in Rajaiah’s house but we comforted and counseled her and she went back. She filed police cases against Anil and Rajaiah also in Warangal," she said.
Warangal Police Commissioner Sudhir Babu told media that all angles will be investigated but the police have already prima facie registered a suicide case, which has raised many eyebrows. In any such fire case, it would be filed first as an accident and then other angles will be investigated but in this case, it was first registered as a case of suicide.
Rajaiah was given the Congress ticket to contest the MP by-elections in Warangal and he had filed his nomination papers on Monday, less than 50 hours before the tragic incident.
