Richa Chadha, the ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ actress thinks that better roles are written for better actors making Bollywood a good place for female actresses right now.
The industry and the audience have become more receptive to actresses in a lead role, says Richa, who will be seen soon in ‘Masaan’ which is acclaimed by the Cannes film festival. The film will mark the debut of director Neeraj Ghaywan.
“It is a good time for female actors because there is greater acceptability. I also feel meaty roles are being written for actresses. I loved ‘Queen’, ‘NH10’ and ‘Piku’… Great roles for women are there right now,” the actress told PTI.
The 26-year-old actress says that it’s high time that films utilized the modest backdrops and seemed to be happy as she part of the film “Masaan.”
According to Richa, now is the time to see more rooted stories because all these years we have seen movies set in foreign locations, big cities. And its all about time that films with modest settings and real characters are being made.
‘I cannot star in any movie if her character does not make sense to her,’ says the actress who is known for preferring meaty roles over the big banners and a film’s commercial.
The ‘Oye Lucky, Luck oye!’ actress is ready to do big budget film provided her role is substantial as she seems to be selective and enjoy while working.
“You will be seeing a lot more of me now but every film has its destiny. I have done some films, which are yet to release,” she told PTI.
Richa has three movies back to back, she will be next seen in Pooja Bhatt’s “Cabaret”, “Main Aur Charles” and Sudhir Mishra’s “Aur Devdas”.
