Hrithik Roshan-starrer ‘Bang Bang!’ box collections sore up to Rs.27.54 crore on its opening day Thursday, October 2, surpassing the hero’s previous film “Krrish 3”, that raked in Rs. 25.5 crore on day one, with expectations running high at grossing Rs.100 crore within a week.
Acknowledging the response, Hrithik Roshan said, “That is so cool. Opening higher than a franchise film like Krrish 3 and beating my own record is one way to realise my own growth and strength. But after that, it’s not about me, I’m just glad I’ve been able to entertain my audience.”
Hrithik Roshan’s earlier films the Krrish franchise beginning with the sciientific fiction “Koi Mil Gaya”, followed by its sequel “Krrish” and then “Krrish 3”, which were released in a span of 10 years between 2003 and 2013 made Rs.100 crore everytime easily in the first few days.
“Bang Bang!” despite Katrina Kaif’s refusal to kiss the hero, made it a hit despite other adverse reviews in the media and poorer ratings from 2 to 3 with rarely a 4 as in the case of his last film “Krrish 3”. The best part of the film was its exotic locations ranging from Prague, Greece, London to India.
Produced by Fox Star Studios, and directed by Siddharth Anand, the Rs.180 crore film “Bang Bang” was released on Thursday, Oct 2 in more than 4,500 screens, a record for any Bollywood film.”And the entire credit for this humongous success goes to the whole starcast, the entire crew and especially to the director Sid Anand. I stand here in gratitude,” said Hrithik roshan in the statement.
The last big hit in Bollywood this years was Ajay Devgn’s “Singham Returns” that collected Rs. 32.09 crore on its first day compared to Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’, which was able to collect Rs. 26.40 crore on its opening day during the pre-Eid festival.
