SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ has finished one-month long screening in more than 800 screens, refusing to go down below the double digit weekly collections earning Rs.29 crore last week. The revenue tracking website Boxofficeindia.com has put the total collections of Hindi version of Baahubali 2 at a staggering Rs.489.17 crore, indicating the strong possibility of the film minting more than Rs.500 crore nett in domestic market alone as it winds up in many theatres across India.
The Prabhas-starred magnum opus has set several records and smashed all existing Hindi film records with Rs 246.47 crore in the openeing week, Rs 142.52 crore in the second week, Rs 69.43 crore in its third week, followed by Rs.29 crore in its fourth week. The total earnings in nett have reached Rs.489 crore with Rs.500-mark not faraway.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted figures as: “#Baahubali2 [Week 4] Fri 4.15 cr, Sat 6.35 cr, Sun 7.80 cr, Mon 2.90 cr, Tue 2.80 cr, Wed 2.70 cr, Thu 2.70 cr. Total: ₹ 489.40 cr Nett.” In terms of gross earnings, Bahubali 2 has crossed Rs.1,613 crore according to trade tracker Ramesh Bala.
The film, released in 9,000 screens worldwide on April 28, has completed one month as of today and the earnings have definitely slowed down but still maintain equivalent to any new film’s release, sending signals of becoming the most-ever profitable venture that could one day become a lesson to be taught to aspiring MBA graduates in any IIM in India.
With Prabhas and Rana Dagubatti playing the lead roles, ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ also starred Ramya Krishna, Anushka Shetty, Nasar among others. The film is likely to be released in China, Japan and South Korea soon dubbed into local language.
The film revolves around the Mahishmati kingdom set in before the advent of Muslim rulers and portrays an epic battle between two cousin brothers, one evil and the other heroic. The rightful heir to the throne emerges to stake the claim with the help of Kattappa and finally the right wins over the evil.
