Reaching the Himalayas in true sense, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s five-day free yoga camp was attended by thousands of Nepalis on Friday.
Ramdev, who arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday to conduct the session at Tundikhel, being organised by the Patanjali Nepal chapter, kicked off the camp today with Nepal Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bamdev Gautam, Irrigation Minister Narayan Prakash Saud and dozens of senior government officials taking part in the yoga camp.
The organisers have estimated that about 20,000 people might have attended the camp on its opening day. The camp will go on till Wednesday.
Ramdev, who is on his fifth visit to Nepal, said he would also participate in a campaign to clean the Bagmati river in the city as the revered Pashupatinath temple is located on its banks.
Yoga became popular among Nepalis after Ramdev aggressively promoted it in India to begin with and took it to Nepal too. He will also travel to other cities of Nepal to promote yoga.
