Apple Upbeat as Billionth iPhone Sold

At an employee meeting in Cupertino this morning, CEO Tim Cook announced that Apple sold the billionth iPhone on Wednesday, July 27, 2016.

“Last week we passed another major milestone when we sold the billionth iPhone. We never set out to make the most, but we’ve always set out to make the best products that make a difference. Thank you to everyone at Apple for helping change the world every day."

iPhone has become one of the most important, world-changing and successful products in history. "It’s become more than a constant companion. iPhone is truly an essential part of our daily life and enables much of what we do throughout the day," said Cook.

The first iPhone was released on June 29, 2007 by Steve Jobs. The journey of iPhone began with Steve Jobs asking Apple Inc. engineers to investigate touchscreens and a tablet computer, for its iPad, based on its previous device Newston Messagepad. The nearly all screen iPhone was designed by Apple’s head of design, Jonathan Ive.

iPhone is manufactured on contract in China known as Foxconn. The next seven years saw instant success of iPhone making it a 21st century must-have device in everybody’s hands. Becoming the global IT industry’s top giant and No.1 Player, Apple has reached a no-return status and Steve Jobs, who died four years ago still drives the spirit behind iPhone.
