AP Secondary Education Board declared the results of Class 10th exam results on Saturday, after a delay of about three days and the pass percentage was 2.6% less than last year.
Andhra Pradesh state education minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao released the results at Visakhapatnam and students can check them on the official website of the board at: bse.ap.gov.in.
This year, a total of 6,22,538 regular students appeared and 5,60,253 of them cleared the exam accounting for a pass percentage of 91.92%, 2.60% less than the previous year’s pass percentage. Among them boys were 3,14,471 and girls were 2,95,031.
“As many as 3,14,471 boys appeared for the examinations, of which 2,82,909 boys cleared the exam. Among the 2,95,031 girls, who took the exam, 2,51,344, accounting for 91.97%, passed the exam. Thus, the girls outperformed boys marginally,” Srinivasa rao said.
About 13,000 private students appeared for the exam and 8,262 students passed the exam, he noted. District-wise, East Godavari topped with 97.97%. Chittoor came last with 80.55%. Kadapa, which topped the districts in the last two years slipped to second position. Only 2 private schools showed zero percent result.
A record number of 18,225 students scored 10/10 GPA (grade point average) for the first time, compared to last year’s 6,444 students with the same GPA. “Last year, only 6,444 students managed to get the 10/10 GPA. This year it is almost three times. Again, East Godavari district topped the list in achieving this record with 2,826 students getting 10/10 GPA and Vizianagaram recorded the least at 525 students,” he said.
In all, private schools performed well with 97.26% pass percentage, while the government schools stood at 86%, barring the residential schools which did remarkably well with 96.37% clearing the exam. For those failed, the supplementary exam will be held from June 14 to 28 and the last date for submitting the applications is May 28.
