Telugu actress Anushka Shetty, the lead female role in magnum opus “Rudramadevi”, a historical film in the backdrop of Kakatiya dynasty that ruled Andhra, will get a special video as her birthday gift on Friday from the makers of the film.
The film’s director Gunasekhar, who is keeping the details a secret but a source told IANS: “A birthday gift is being planned for Anushka. It could be a special birthday video or even the film’s teaser. Director has kept everything a secret and wants to surprise Anushka on the special day.”
Anushka plays the titular role of queen Rudhramadevi in the film and Allu arjun is playing the lead male role, while the erstwhile hero Krishnam Raju will also be seen in a lead role in the film.
The high-budget visual wonder, “Rudhramadevi” also features Rana Daggubati, Nitya Menon, Aditi Chengappa, and Prakash Raj. The music was provided by Illayaraja. The film has completed the production and is currently in post-production stage.
Produced with a budget of Rs. 50 crore ($8.1 million), the film marks the highest budget film with a heroine-oriented theme in India and is all set for release in December, 2014.
Plot: Rudramadevi was a 13th century ruler of the Kakatiya dynasty that ruled Warangal region Rani Rudrama Devi became the ruler after the death of her father at the age of 14. Her feudatories who did not like the succession of a woman to the throne revolted but she repelled all of them.
Though she married Veera Bhadra, he dies early and she continued to protect her fortress and defeat the Yadava king Mahadeva who invaded.
