Google had sent an official invite to media houses to ‘Block the date’ on Septemebr 15 for the launch of “Android One” in India but Flipkart, the online retailer of Android One was eager to maximize the enthusiasm of the buyers that it had leaked imaged and allowed GSM Arena to grab a picture and portray the entire thing as a leak, and not intentional.
With more than a day to go, the leak has established the identity and what Google unveils in 30 minutes now will be the same "Monday, September 15 from 12 noon.”
The leaked info reveals that the Spice Android One Dream UNO Mi-498 phone, priced at Rs 6,999, ($115), has specs such as MediaTek SoC with 1.3GHz quad-core CPU and Mali 400 GPU, a gig of RAM, and 4GB of built-in memory, microSD card slot, a 4.5” FWGA IPS display, 5MP main camera with LED flash, 2MP selfie photo unit, and provision for dual-SIM cards. The device operates on Android One, virtually shelving the Android 4.4.4 Kit Kat out of future mobile phones.
The rounded square mobile handsets in red, white, yellow and green as if they are mini-tablets like iPad Mini, will be launched at 12 noon now by Google with its Indian hardware partners Micromax, Intex, Celkon, Spice and Karbonn.
In June, Google had announced that its Android One phones will be priced in the range of $100 (Rs.6,000) during its I/O event. The invite with colourful squares intersecting each other signals, which Firstpost said hints at ‘L’ meaning the launch of “the next big version of Android.”
