Amitabh Bachchan, who has played roles of a constipation patient in PIKU and Auro in “Paa”, will be soon seen on small screens in an animated superhero avatar for the very first time in a cartoon series called “Astra Force”.
For the first time Amitabh Bachchan has been offered to portray animated character of a superhero, revealed the 72-year-old megastar himself.
Astra Force, is a 52-episode series which is a fun-filled and fast-paced action-adventure. It will tell the audience the story of a mythical hero from a distant world, who was stranded on Earth millions of years ago after a space battle. It will also be filled with thrills and laughs.
“I liked the idea. I gave nod to this because I was never associated with something like this. It is a great way to connect with children. Astra is a superhero who has physical superpowers. The kids will learn some lessons from this. But it is not going to be preachy,” Big B told PTI.
According to the PTI the Managing Director, Disney India, Siddharth Roy Kapoor said, “At Disney, we believe in showcasing great stories with compelling characters. It is imperative to get the local texture right for any story to resonate and emotionally connect with the viewers. With Mr Bachchan associating with Astra Force, we will be bringing an interesting facet to storytelling in the local animation space.”
Graphic India’s Co-Founder and CEO Sharad Devarajan, who is behind the cartoon series, told NDTV: “Amitabh Bachchan is a real life superhero to millions including myself. So it’s no surprise that he is the perfect person to become immortalised in this new animated avatar.”
Graphic India will be launching the character in a series of digital and print comic books available through a special Facebook comic application through Mr Bachchan’s large social media following.
When he was aksed why he involved in so many activities at a time, his crypt reply was quite convincing. “They have the liberty of time .. I do not .. they have an entire lifetime ahead of them .. I do not .. their years ahead are plenty .. my years ahead are limited ..”
Reportedly, Amitabh Bachchan reveals his favourite animated characters as Mickey Mouse, Batman, Laurel and Hardy. His own cartoon show will be aired in 2017 on Disney Channel India, which means two more years.
