Amazon released Voyage, its new Kindle eBook reader in Indian market with a price tag of Rs 16,499 and Rs.20,499 for the Wi-Fi and 3G variants respectively, which is put on sale at Amazon India e-commerce website.
With a sleek design Kindly Voyage sports a 6-inch display with Carta e-paper technology and automatically adjustable front light, eliminating screen glare. The device comes with an internal 4GB memory storge to store thousands of books, claims the company.
It is the thinnest device from Amazon Kindle series with a high-resolution display of 300ppi, which is double the Kindle Paperwhite. Measuring 162 mm x 115 mm x 7.6 mm, the Wi-Fi variant weighs 180g while the Wi-Fi + 3G variant weighs 188g.
Another major improvement is that the PagePress sensors allow a user to turn the page without lifting a finger.
Amazon is upbeat about the crisp display of the device with 300 ppi that helps it feature sharp, dark text that reads more like the printed page and the micro-etched glass screen is crafted to eliminate glare and feel like paper to the touch, says Amazon.
New—Kindle Voyage is helpful to read in bright sunlight or total darkness — and “it’s smart enough to know the difference,” sys the company. With a new adaptive front light, Kindle Voyage senses the light in your environment, and changes the setting to the ideal brightness.
With a battery that life that lasts for 6 weeks if used for half-an-hour daily and it takes three hours to charge the Kindle Voyage fully from a computer-connected USB cable, claims Amazon provided its wireless is off and the light setting is at 10.
For connectivity, the Voyage is compatible with the 802.11 b/g/n standards with support for WEP, WPA and WPA2 security or Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).
