Allu Arjun-starrer ‘S/o Sathyamurthy’ box office collections cross ‘Attarintiki Daredi’ record

Allu Arjun-starrer ‘S/o Sathyamurthy’ (SoS) has crossed all box office expectations with Rs.33.35 crore in two days after its release on Thursday in more than 1645 screens in the country and overseas.

“The film has registered the biggest opening of the year so far. It has collected a gross of Rs.33.35 crore in two days since its release worldwide. It’s headed for a great weekend at the ticket window,” said trade analyst Trinath.

“S/O Satyamurthy” revolves around a son who will go all out to save his father’s honour. Besides Allu Arjun, it also features Samantha,  Nitya Menon, Adah Sharma and Rajendra Prasad.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who had invited Allu Arjun to the Twitter platform a day before,  “#SonOfSatyaMurthy [Telugu] is speeding towards $ 1 mn mark. Wed + Thu $ 487,114, Fri $ 233,870. Total: $ 720,984 [₹ 4.49 cr].”

The weekend rush is enormous all over Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with long queues witnessed in theatres and the movie has come at a time when there was a lull in new releases and there is virtually no competition to the film from Bollywood or Hollywood.

With an occupancy rate above 70% on Saturday, the film is expected to attract housefull crowds on Sunday and may cross the Rs.10 crore in one day barrier set by successful movies in Telugu in the recent past.

S/o Satyamurthy will become the next best film after Pawan Kalyan’s “Attarintiki Daredi”, which rocked the Telugu film industry in 2013 and both the actors are relatives.

Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, the film “S/o Sathymurthy” features Samantha, Upendra, Nithya Menen, Rajendra Prasad, Adah Sharma, and Ali, with Allu Arjun rocking throughout the film.

Cpmpared to his cousin Ram Charan’s “Govindudu Andarivadele” that collected Rs.8.62 crore on it sopening day, Allu Arjun’s SOS has crossed the record anyway with domestic and overseas box office collections put together at Rs.12 crore.

Compared to Pawan Kalyan’s “Attarintiki Daredi” with its top box office collections at Rs.10.75 crore in one day or Mahesh Babu’s “Aagadu” with Rs.9.5 crore, SOS has crossed the collections setting a new record on its opening day.

Otherwise, for record, Jr NTR’s “Badshah” is the third-highest grosser at Rs.9.25 crore, followed by his own latest film “Rabhasa” that minted Rs.8.85 crore and behind it is his own film “Ramayya Vastavayya” with Rs.8.7 crore.

The film, being Allu arjun movie, is full of performance and backed by a good script keeps the audience enthralled throughout. Despite reviews pointing out dragged-on storyline, the mesmerizing effects of Allu arjun have apparently offset any demerits in the film.
