Allu Arjun starrer “S/o Satymaurthy” has collected Rs.70 crore in two weeks of its box office collections and still running nearly 60 percent of seat occupancy in many theatres and multiplexes.
In the first week, the film “S/o Satymaurthy” grossed Rs. 38 crore nett (Rs.57.7 crore gross) and in its second week the net revenue fell by half as predicted in view of tough cokmpetition from three newly released film “OK Bangaram”, “Budugu” and “Varadhi”.
However, the second weekend saw good occupancy in theatres for the film “S/o Satymaurthy” as the collections went up by Rs. 4.55 crore nett (Rs.9.15 crore gross) at worldwide box offices, making an average of Rs.2.5 crore since then.
“S/O Satyamurthy” has so far collected Rs.45.05 crore nett (Rs.71.35 crore gross) in its 15-day journey and entering the third week on a equally a good response.
Produced by S. Radha Krishna, “S/O Satyamurthy” made with a budget of Rs.40 crore has so far been successful with theatre rights sold for Rs.54 crore and producers recovering nearly 80% of their investment in the film.
Being Friday, new Telugu films “Dochey”, “Kai Raja Kai”, “Aloukika” and the Telugu-dubbed “Avengers: Age of Ultron” are likely to give competition this weekend with reduced screens for “S/O Satyamurthy”.
Otherwise, the film grossed its reveneues on the first two days itself. “The film has registered the biggest opening of the year so far. It has collected a gross of Rs.33.35 crore in two days since its release worldwide. It’s headed for a great weekend at the ticket window,” said trade analyst Trinath.
“S/O Satyamurthy” revolves around a son who will go all out to save his father’s honour. Besides Allu Arjun, it also features Samantha, Nitya Menon, Adah Sharma and Rajendra Prasad.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who had invited Allu Arjun to the Twitter platform a day before the release of the film said, “#SonOfSatyaMurthy [Telugu] is speeding towards $ 1 mn mark. Wed + Thu $ 487,114, Fri $ 233,870. Total: $ 720,984 [₹ 4.49 cr].”
