All the 250 units of the Mercedez-Benz B-Class cars were sold out in pre-booking though it was formally launched in Mumbai on Sunday, said the company hoping to repeat the same feat when the second round of bookings open in January 2013. The 250 units will be delivered by October 2012.
The luxury compact sports were sold out quickly in India and the international market was well over 75,000 units. In India, the car was priced 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). It is provided with one engine option – 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine of 122PS of power and 200Nm of torque. The petrol version has two trim levels – B180 priced Rs 21.49 lakh and B180 Sports car at Rs 24.87 lakh. The diesel variant of the B-Class will be available in the third quarter of 2013, said the company.
The current petrol version has an advanced 7G DCT 7-Speed dual clutch transmission with Gear Shift Paddles on the steering wheel and ECO START-STOP function, providing a fuel efficiency of 14.81kmpl. The speed of 100 mark is achieved in 10.2 seconds and its top speed is 190kmph.
