This makes Akshay Kumar film one of the top three Bollywood Hits of 2015 to ern Rs.50 crore in the first weekend and soon it may create new record of earning the highest box office collection in the first week.
The film faced 11th hour anxiety before its release like others. Following some religious objections raised at the last minute before the Indian film Censor Board, the producers including Akshy Kumar, have decided to cut two important scenes from the film — one about the burning of Akshay’s character’s turban, and the other his use of a holy kadaa (iron bangle) as a weapon.
The film surrounds Punjabi character Raftaar Singh (Akshay Kumar) who falls in love with a foreign woman (British actress Amy Jackson) despite not being able to speak her language. With the help of a translator (Lara Dutt), their romance goes awry with the middle woman playing truant in the game.
In terms of box office collections, Singh is Bliing comes closer to another hit film Bajrang Bhaijaan that registered Rs.100 crore in the first week itself.
