In a bid to support the Skill sets development in India, AISECT group, based in Madhya Pradesh, has launched ‘aisectmoocs.com’, the country’s largest free online open learning platform recently. The Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) portal will offer over 2,000 courses including school courses, skill courses and higher education courses and all courses on aisectmoocs.com will be offered free of cost.
AISECT has partnered with Ireland-based ALISON to offer 750 diploma and certificate level ALISON courses, in addition to courses on school curriculum as well as courses on higher education subjects. Initially, the course curriculum will be available in English and Hindi but more regional language content will be added, said the group in a statement.
AISECT’s Director Abhishek Pandit said, “I strongly feel that 2016 is going to be an inflection year for MOOCs in India and we have launched the AISECT MOOC in order to contribute to this revolution.” Madhya Pradesh-based non-profit AISECT is ficusing on developing skills and online-based educational, services and e-governance network to reach the remote corners of India to generate employment.
AISECT has 23,000 centres across 29 States and 3 Union Territories covering 388 districts, 1,070 blocks and 6,000 panchayats. Till date, AISECT has trained over 2 million people, generated over 15,000 rural entrepreneurs, created employment avenues within its network for more than 75,000 people and helped over 5 million people.
It has also pioneered the Multi-Purpose Centre Model for ICT penetration in semi-urban and rural India. In partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), AISECT has set-up 12 academies which offer over 150 skills-based courses. Under this partnership, AISECT aims to impart skills-based training to over 1.3 million youth within 10 years. The organization has joined hands with both Central and State Governments for a host of skill development and capacity building programmes including the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, said a statement.
In educational arena, AISECT Group has established Central India’s first private university known as Dr. C.V. Raman University in Chhattisgarh and India’s first skills university, the AISECT University in Madhya Pradesh.
Its other key educational initiatives include Eduvantage PRO (digital classroom solution for schools), Brainy Bear Pre-school & Activity Club, aisectonline.com and SCOPE Group of Institutions. It has also launched Rojgarmantra.com to provide placement support to skilled youth in semi-urban and rural areas. The portal currently has over 5 lakh rural people registered for rural job placement initiative.
AISECT is also an agent for the Common Service Centre Project and has established around 6,000 CSCs across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Punjab.
It also offers financial inclusion services in partnership with several nationalized banks and insurance companies. Under its financial inclusion initiatives, AISECT has created 4,000 banking kiosks in which 75 lakh bank accounts have been opened with transactions worth Rs.5,000 crore. One Crore Aadhar card numbers have been generated so far at these kiosks.
