In his casual way, Telugu star Nandmuri Balakrishna, son of late NTR, who had a case filed in the past for firing on his producers, has come out with his true nature again on the International Women’s Day.
When the whole world was busy respecting women in some way or the other, Balayya, as he is fondly called by his fans, was speaking at an audio release function for the movie “Savithri”.
In a shocker to audience, he said:”If I play eve-teasing roles, and just follow girls, my fans will not accept. Either a kiss should be given or they should be made pregnant. That’s all. We have to commit ourselves.”
Balakrishna is a Telugu Desam Party MLA and is a brother-in-law of AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. In fact, his daughter was married off just two years ago. But he was known in the film field for his romantic relations.
One of his erstwhile heroines in a film and now YSR Congress MLA R.K. Roja was among the first to react demanding an apology from the firebrand actor, who rarely apologized for his remarks in the past.
“While the top leadership itself has been pursuing anti-woman policies, it percolates down the line resulting in the harassment of women at various levels and such government should apologise to the women community,” Roja told media today, commemorating the International Women’s Day.
Soon a team of lawyers filed a complaint against the remarks and the actor, when approached for comment by NDTV, replied that he had only said something which he thought his fans expected from him and they were never meant to insult any woman.
“My comments, made during the audio release of Telugu movie Savitri, were not intentional. They were not intended towards anybody. If anybody got annoyed by my remarks, I apologise to them,” he said.
In fact, Balakrishna has too many fans, most of them women in Telugu field. He is famous for his dialogues such as those which said, “I will kill you with my eye-sight” and others. His dialogues in many films had set new trends in the Telugu film industry.
