The film featuring Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha faced the wrath of the critics on its first day and faced lukewarm response from audience in theatres, which have seen less than half the occupancy capacity in many theatres and multiplexes.
The film was made on a budget of about Rs.75 crore, and the film requires more than a month to just meet its cost, while profits and other incurred cost may or may not be accrued as Prabhudheva’s latest directorial had minted only Rs.19 crore in its first two days, after its release on Dec 5.
“Considering the budget, the movie should’ve got a jump of minimum Rs.15 crore or Rs.20 crore, but that didn’t happen. It earned only Rs.28 crore in three days. It might not sustain for long,” Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines told IANS.
Trade analyst Komal Nahta had earlier stated that the film is “too routine and hackneyed”. Even the other film released on the same day, “Sulemani Keeda”, a comedy failed to make any dent at the box office. “Its figures are negligible,” said Thadani.
