The film depicting the dance competition in New York has all the ingredients required to fare well in India and abroad as elements of Hollywood musical hits are incorporated in the film with choreographer Prabhudeva taking the project as his prestige question.

Another factor going in its favour is sheer word of mouth. despite incessant rains in Mumbai and Ramzan month beginning, the film is able to gross higher returns then earlier films this year prove that it is on its way to become Rs.100-crore sooner than expected.

Directed by RemoD’Souza and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Walt Disney Pictures, the film stars Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor and Prabhu Deva in lead roles with Lauren Gottlieb, Raghav Juyal and Dharmesh Yelande in supporting roles. It is the sequel to the 2013 film ABCD or Any Body Can Dance.

The earlier version ABCD release in 2013 with Prabhudeva in the lead role grossed  Rs. 5.5 crore on its opening day and Rs.19.5 crore on its first weekend. The film went on to gross Rs.45.5 crore in lifetime collections. The sequel ‘ABCD 2’ is likely to double the box office as the trend is going in its favour.

Koimoi has estimated that the Sunday business may go beyond Rs. 16 crore. If so, the film will cross the haf-way mark by Monday itself and finish the target by the end of next weekend.
