Lofty ideals of Aam Aadmi Party have once again been dashed off with the arrest of Delhi law minister Jitender Singh Tomar by Delhi Police on Tuesday for producing a fake certificate to enroll as a lawyer in the high court. He was taken to Hauz Khas police station.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) tried to describe the incident as another straw in the ongoing tussle with the Centre on police powers in Delhi. AAP leader Sanjay Singh said the arrest is just to put pressure on him while the case is still in the high court. However, he did not elaborate on other details.
It was only after an RTI reply that the Bihar-based Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University told the Delhi high court that his provisional certificate to enrol as a lawyer was fabricated. In another version, Tomar’s degree marksheet was reportedly a bogus one and the vice-chancellor’s signature on it was a forged one.
