Lava Mobile unveils latest phone A16, priced Rs 4500

India’s Lava Mobile has unveiled its latest mobile phone Lava A16 MTV, called so because of its partnership with MTV and its aim to attract youngsters.

A sleek and fashionable back cover with soft contours, Lava A16 MTV has an animated graphical user interface on a 2.6″ IPS screen with a high resolution.

It has a 3.2 megapixel back camera, Yamaha PA system for multimedia and SRS WOW HD earphones, besides an integrated Facebook app.

“With Lava A16, the days of boring black or silver mobile phones are over as the consumers will now have the ability to show off their phone as a stylish fashion accessory. Apart from the classy looks, the phone has excellent features like animated themes, 3.2 MP camera, and a 2.6 inch high resolution screen making it a combination of style and substance,” said Sunil Raina, chief marketing officer, Lava International. “We hope, it will definitely appeal to young executives and college goers who want to be a part of the new revolution.”

Lava Mobile expects to end the fiscal year 2011-12 with revenue of Rs 1,000 crore.

“We are expecting revenue of Rs 1,000 crore during this financial year. Lava will launch Android-based smartphones and 3G Tablet within a couple of months. Our focus will remain on enhancing our research and development capability,” says Lava International Co-founder and Director S N Rai.

Lava is also looking for expansion into Africa, South America, especially Peru and Chile, he said and also revealed that within two months, Lava will launch its 3G tablet. He said Lava is eager to launch 4G devices soon.

Sunil Raina showed reporters that the phone, even if dropped five feet, will remain safe and can withstand a weight of up to 95 kgs.

LAVA Mobile was named the “Fastest Growing Mobile Phone Indian Brand” by CMAI (Communications Multimedia and Infrastructure) Association of India during National Telecom Awards ceremony this year.

“The core philosophy of our brand is to empower people with mobile devices that fulfill unmet needs of Indian consumers. In a short span of time LAVA has achieved fast growth through strong customer understanding and providing relevant and superior quality products and services to its customers,” says S. N. Rai.

LAVA, which started operation only 2 years ago, has launched products like Alpha keypad and IPS screen in recent months. It has 1,000 distributors and 50,000 retail counters in India.
