Friendship is a coincidence. Much like love, it doesn’t see your class, community, sex or religion. It’s spontaneous and the foundation of any strong relationship. However, unlike others friendship doesn’t demand for a commitment. Best friends can go on for days, weeks or even months not talking to each other, but knowing that if anything happens they will be always by each other’s side. They see the world together, face the storm together, and stay strong together – experience the journey together.
In the fame business, everything seems staged and pretentious, which is why these celebrities have been given the tag “Frenemies”. In view of today being International Friendship Day, let’s take a look into those celebrities who stuck by each other through thick and thin.
- Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas
These two pop stars might be on the roll currently, ruling the world with their music. Nevertheless, they’ve know each other since their Camp Rock days when Demi used to tour with the Jonas Brothers. It is no novelty how Demi got addicted to drugs and self-harm and left the Camp Rock tour in the middle and went to rehab for three months. However, Nick’s and Demi’s strong bonding triggered her to ask for his help as the dance and stage director during her tours after she came out from the rehab. Demi completely dodged Nick out of her life during her struggles when she didn’t want to talk about it to anyone, but when she needed him to be a part of her new life, he didn’t forget his old friend. Now that’s called real friendship.
- Ben Affleck and Matt Damon
They grew up by each other and with each other and hit the fame world after co-starring and co-writing Good Will Hunting. But fame didn’t drift them apart and ruin their friendship as they still get along well and stronger than ever.
- Jennifer Anniston and Courtney Cox
They met each other on the set of Friends in 1994, and call it coincidence like in the series they actually turned out to be real life best friends as well. Courtney even made Jennifer the godmother of her baby girl, Cocoa. No point they mean the real deal.
- Jay-Z and Kanye West
They are not just musicians, they are musical magnates. They gifted the world many great music together that they collaborated on, but their album “Watch the Throne” took their friendship to a new level. Kanye introduced his then girlfriend and now wife, Kim Kardashian to Jay-Z. Not only this, in appreciation of Jay-Z’s now wife, Beyonce; Kanye even committed a huge controversy in the music world when he snatched the microphone from Taylor Swift’s hand at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, interrupting her moment for receiving her first VMA for the Best Female Video and said that Beyonce has the “best video of all time” referring to her “Single Ladies” video. This incident drew him a series of criticisms even from U.S President Barack Obama.
- Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake
Their bromance (brotherly romance) has been making the rounds for more than a decade now. It all started when they did a skit together in the 2002 Saturday Night Live (SNL) and everything else has just been a history since then. Jimmy presented the Michael Jackson Van Guard award at the 2013 Video Music Awards to Justin Timberlake.
- Katy Perry and Rihanna
They might be two of the hottest and boldest women of the pop world, but instead of feeling jealousy towards each other’s achievements they have shown the world a different side of each other – being best friends forever. In award shows Perry was seen adoring the performances of Rihanna. In 2012 Video Music Awards, the duo looked inseparable, sitting beside each other and enjoying the show.
- Taylor Swift and Emma Stone
Their friendship started nearly seven years ago, when they met at the Young Hollywood Awards. They have been by each other throughout these years, and Taylor even went to seek solace from Emma during her heartbreaks.
- Minka Kelly and Leighton Meester
From commercials for Clerasil to starring in their own TV shows and eventually in the movie “The Roommate,” these two women look alike and are beautiful best friends.
- Niall Horan and Justin Bieber
They have become new best friends’ duo, but their magic is spreading like there is tomorrow. Talk about being two of most powerful pop stars in the world. Niall from the boyband, One Direction and Justin Bieber met each other when the former along with his bandmates were participating on 2010 X-Factor UK. Niall has always been a big fan of Bieber, and now his good fortune has made him best friends a.k.a brother with the 21-year-old Canadian. They’re often known to enjoy late night jam sessions and Bieber recently congratulated Niall on One Direction’s new single post-Zayn Malik (former member of One Direction) “Drag Me Down”.
- Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez
Their friendship is as solid and powerful as a rock. They do things for each other that make not just their fans, but anyone in general go “awww”. Taylor stood by Selena during her constant on-off relationship with Justin Bieber, and helped her get through the heartbreak. Taylor and Selena are seen sitting beside each other almost in all award shows, cheering and jumping for each other. In fact, on Taylor’s last birthday, Selena designed her nails especially in honor of Taylor. Now isn’t a cute gesture or what? These two pop queens are the hot favorite now, but in the mad ride they know what really matters, and that is being with and beside your best friend, always.
